HAIL AND WIND DAMAGE
WHAT ARE THE SIGNS?
If you live in the southeast region of the country,
chances are your roof will be struck by hail. This does not mean that
your roof will be damaged by hail. Shingles are designed to handle
moderate hail hits. Severe hail hits may cause functional damage to
roofing materials as they impact the water-shedding capability of your
roof. Functional damage to a composite shingle occurs when the shingle
is fractured. The fracture can be verified by observing the bottom side
of the shingle. Granular loss alone is not functional damage.
Listed below are examples of hail
damaged shingles.
